Tool Maker | Whitehall, MI

Salary Range: $60,000 - $92,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

We partner with manufacturers across Whitehall seeking Tool Makers who want more than a lateral move. These companies hire intentionally, and we connect them with professionals ready for roles that fit.

Key Responsibilities

• Interpret blueprints, sketches, and specifications to plan and execute tool fabrication.
• Fabricate, machine, and assemble precision tools, dies, jigs, fixtures, and gauges.
• Operate a variety of machine tools including lathes, mills, grinders, and CNC equipment.
• Perform routine maintenance, repair, and modification of existing tooling.
• Inspect finished tools for accuracy, functionality, and adherence to quality standards.
• Troubleshoot and resolve tooling-related issues impacting manufacturing processes.
• Select appropriate materials and heat treatments for optimal tool performance.

Recommended Qualifications

• Experience operating and programming precision machining equipment (manual and CNC mills, lathes, grinders, EDM).
• Proficiency in interpreting blueprints, CAD models, and technical specifications.
• Strong understanding of metrology and skilled in using precision measuring instruments.
• Proven ability to build, repair, and maintain complex tooling, dies, jigs, and fixtures.
• Completion of a formal Tool Maker apprenticeship or equivalent 5+ years of relevant experience.

Bonus Qualifications

• Proficiency with advanced CAD/CAM software.
• Experience with multi-axis CNC programming and operation.
• Familiarity with CMM programming and advanced metrology techniques.
• Knowledge of Design for Manufacturability (DFM) principles.
